Ian C. Deady

Trial Attorney

Ian Deady joined Krissman & Silver after completing a two-year fellowship at Veterans Legal Institute funded by UC Irvine and The Nicholas Endowment. While at Veterans Legal Institute, Ian represented veterans of the U.S. armed forces across a variety of practice areas, including unlawful detainer and creditor litigation, and administrative appeals before the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Social Security Administration, the California Labor Commissioner, and several local housing authorities. He also founded VLI’s Bankruptcy & Consumer Rights Clinic, where he counseled clients on Chapter 7 bankruptcy and represented them before the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Central District of California. Ian was successful in preventing dozens of evictions, recovering hundreds of thousands of dollars in veteran disability compensation, unpaid wages, and Social Security benefits, in addition to helping clients negotiate down consumer debts and receive bankruptcy discharges.

Ian earned his law degree at UC Irvine School of Law. There, he received recognition for his pro bono service, earned the highest marks in Public Interest Litigation, Land Use Law, and Banking Regulation, and worked as a research assistant for leading scholars in land use law and constitutional law. He also litigated a California Environmental Quality Act suit and appeal against a major oil refinery as part of the Environmental Law Clinic, interned in the Orange County Office of County Counsel, and worked closely with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court while interning in Public Counsel’s Debtor Assistance Project in Los Angeles.

Prior to attending law school, Ian earned his undergraduate degree in Social Ecology from UC Irvine where he focused on law and public policy. He also completed an internship with the U.S. State Department in Washington, D.C., working on international environmental conservation issues alongside U.S. diplomats. After receiving his degree, Ian spent four years as a paralegal in a bustling litigation firm, gaining experience working on business litigation, personal injury, employment, and products liability matters.

Ian is committed to using his skills as an advocate to protect consumers and workers and to help them obtain the compensation they deserve.
